We've updated our Terms of Service to include new provisions for Sovereign Entities and users under 18. Summary of changes:

  1. Sovereign Entity Exceptions: We've added specific provisions regarding how our Terms apply to government bodies, diplomatic missions, and other sovereign entities, including detailed exemptions and compliance requirements.
  2. Minor Usage Guidelines: We've introduced comprehensive terms governing platform access and usage by individuals under 18, including parental authorization requirements.

These changes take effect on July 1, 2025. By continuing to use our services after this date, you agree to these updated Terms.

In addition, to better protect your Synapse account, starting July 1, 2025, we are requiring an extra layer of security called two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users. This means you will need to activate an Authenticator App. This additional layer of security safeguards your data from unauthorized access and follows National Institute of Standards and Technology recommendations. Details on how to enable 2FA on your Synapse account are available in Synapse Help Documentation.

The Synapse Terms of Service establish the use, disclaimers, and limitation of liability governing Synapse. By using Synapse, you are agreeing to abide by each of these terms and conditions.

The Privacy Policy explains how Sage Bionetworks aims to protect personal information received, used, and disclosed in connection with Synapse from registered users and non-registered visitors. Our Cookies Documentation describes how we use cookies to enhance your experience on our website and with our services.

Sage Bionetworks partners with external, good-faith security researchers to strengthen our security posture, collaborate, and better align with security and compliance standards. We've launched a Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP) that allows researchers to report security flaws in our internet-facing applications. This program invites cybersecurity experts to submit vulnerabilities, which we'll assess and address. Report an issue here.
